We recently wrapped up a complete backyard renovation for a wonderful client in Culver City, CA — and the transformation was incredible. What started as a plain, unused outdoor space is now a luxurious, fully functional backyard built for entertaining, relaxing, and enjoying California living year-round.
This project included a brand-new pool, low-maintenance artificial turf, a raised Trex deck, a custom gas fire pit, a wall-mounted outdoor TV, a built-in BBQ area, and custom privacy fencing. Every element was carefully designed to match the client’s vision while using quality materials and finishes that stand the test of time.
The Client's Vision
Our client wanted a backyard that offered both style and function. Their goal was to create a multi-use space where they could relax, entertain guests, and spend quality time with family. They also wanted the space to feel clean, modern, and low-maintenance — which is why we recommended a combination of durable materials like Trex decking and synthetic grass.
Privacy and flow were also priorities. They wanted the space to feel like an extension of their home, with designated zones for swimming, dining, lounging, and entertaining.

The Remodeling Process
1. Demolition and Preparation
We began by clearing out the old yard and preparing the ground for the new layout. This included removing existing grass, leveling the land, and prepping the pool site.
2. Pool Installation
Next, we installed a custom in-ground pool that became the centerpiece of the backyard. It’s modern, clean, and sized perfectly for both family fun and weekend relaxation.
3. Raised Trex Deck
We built a beautiful raised deck using Trex composite boards, which are known for their long-lasting durability and low upkeep. This deck now serves as an outdoor living area with room for lounge furniture and great views of the pool.
4. Artificial Turf
We installed high-quality artificial turf in key areas to add softness and greenery without the need for constant watering or mowing. It’s a smart, eco-friendly solution that keeps the yard looking perfect all year long.
5. Custom Fire Pit and Outdoor TV
For added comfort and entertainment, we installed a built-in gas fire pit with seating around it — ideal for evening gatherings. Right next to it, we mounted a weather-resistant TV so the family can enjoy movie nights and game days under the open sky.
6. Outdoor Kitchen and BBQ
We also built a custom outdoor cooking area with a built-in grill and countertop space. Now, cooking and entertaining outdoors is a breeze.
7. Privacy Fencing
To complete the design, we added custom fencing for privacy and security. The fencing adds a clean finish and ties the entire backyard together.
