April 12, 2021Indoor Plants That Are Easy To Grow
We can’t tell you how many times we hear people say they can’t have any plants in their home, because they will kill them. While you may not be able to grow every single plant you want to, there are plenty of options to add greenery to your home. We have discovered at least eight indoor plants you can’t possibly kill. We thought we should share them with you, so you can see that bringing beauty into your home is easier than you think!
Spider Plant
The spider plant is one of the easiest plants to grow! You simply place it in a pot filled with soil. Then place the spider plant in an area that gets indirect sunlight. These plants adapt to any condition, so you won’t need to worry about your house being the wrong place for one. When it comes to watering spider plants, it is best to water the soil evenly. You must wait until the soil is completely dry before watering again.
Aloe Plants
Aloe plants are amazing, because you can actually break parts of the plant off to use the aloe inside. This plant does well in indirect bright light. We prefer to place aloe plants in our kitchen windows. When you plant an aloe plant, you must use cactus soil, so be careful with what potting soil you purchase. Watering this plant is easy. The soil must be dry before you can add any more water to it.
Snake Plants
Snake plants, or sansevieria species as they are officially called, are some of the easiest plants to care for. This type of plant actually does better when you forget about it than it does when you give it a lot of attention. Snake plants can go quite some time without water and never die. When you do remember to water this plant, it is best to go around the outside of the plant. Pouring water directly over the top of the plant can cause the plant to rot. Snake plants prefer bright light, but they won’t mind if all you have is an area with only a little light.
Be Aware of the Future
Everyone’s needs change over the years. We recommend thinking ahead to the future and creating a backyard space that will work now and long in the future. This will save you a lot of time and money later.
ZZ Plants
The ZZ plant is also a very forgiving plant. You can easily place this plant in a corner with very little light and it will thrive. This is the perfect plant if you do not like to stick to regular watering schedules or you are out of town quite often. When you do water the ZZ plant, make sure you do not water it again until the soil is completely dry.
Air Plants
Air plants might be small, but they can still add visual appeal to any space. Caring for air plants is as simple as dunking them in water or misting them once a week. As for placement, you can put air plants on your desk or in a terrarium. We have even seen these little plants stuck in little magnets on a refrigerator.
String of Nickels
String of nickels, or dischidia nummularia, is also referred to as a button orchid. This is a hanging plant that is very easy to care for. If you do not want to hang this plant, you can set it on a small table or cabinet and have the cords fall towards the floor.
Heart Shaped Philodendron
While the heart shaped philodendron is native to Brazil, you do not need to live down there to grow this plant successfully. It is best to plant this philodendron in a hanging pot and place it in an area that doesn’t get direct sunlight. Watering is as easy as misting this plant twice a week. The best part about this plant is it tolerates dry air really well.
Swiss Cheese Plant
The swiss cheese plant is another plant that is native to another country. This plant doesn’t need a lot of attention to get nice and big. Swiss cheese plants grow best in a little light, but they do well in the shade too. As for watering, you must use a pot that has drainage to prevent the roots from rotting. You should also let the soil get completely dry before you water the swiss cheese plant again.
These are eight of the indoor plants you won’t kill, or at least not easily. Many of these plants can be left alone for weeks and still look beautiful when you finally pay attention to them. If you have been searching for a little greenery to add to your home, give one of these indoor plants a try.
